At IC, we are experienced with the installation of a variety of commercial hood systems from back shelf and island style hoods, to the more common canopy style hoods. A complete system includes the hood, exhaust fan, and make up air unit that is ducted back near the hood. In addition, IC includes a 16 gauge welded grease shaft with a 2 hour fire rated wrap for all installs. This system is typically located in the kitchen over your cooking surfaces and serves the purpose of removing large amounts of heat and smoke from the cooking area.
In the case of a fire, it is equipped with a built in fire suppression system that is rated to extinguish the fire.
A class 2 hood is a stripped down version of the class 1 hood that is not intended for use above grease producing appliances. This system is typically installed over commercial dish washers and is not fire rated or meant to withstand heat. These systems work to remove steam, vapor, and other moisture from the air. The hood itself will not come with a filter bank nor will the shaft be welded and fire rated.
